SENIOR GL ACCOUNTANT

BASIC FUNCTION: Assists with various activities in the accounting department, including compiling and reviewing payroll data, reconciling ACH bill payments, posting closing entries, and reconciling account balances. Back up the AP/Payroll specialist in entering invoices and preparing payroll.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree and three to five years related experience
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations
• Knowledge of accounting software’s and payroll systems (NetSuite, SuitePeople)
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
• Proven ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Verify vendor federal ID numbers; scheduling and preparing ACH, wires, and checks; assist with resolving invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation; assist in insuring credits are received; assist in issuing stop payments or payment amendments
• Verify coding of expense reports
• Prepare excise tax apportionments
• Period closing responsibilities:
o Accrue expenses
o Recognize deferred and prepaid expenses
o Evaluate real property expenses for capitalization or expense treatment
o Depreciate assets
o Reconcile GL account balances
o Reconcile foreclosure subledgers
• Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting transactions
• Reviews and audits payroll reports
• Backup payroll preparer
• Continuing to improve the close and reconciliation process
• Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as assigned.

SALARY $75,000 – $85,000
